چکیده

Abstract Introduction Resistance exercise (RE) provides several benefits for healthy individuals. However, its effects during heart failure are unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the RE on functional capacity, cardiac remodeling, and soleus muscle molecular biochemical features in rats with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods Three months after MI or simulated surgery (Sham), Wistar were divided into three groups: Sham (n=14), (n=13), subjected (RE-MI, n=14). Exercised trained 3 times a week performing four climbs progressive loads ladder over 12 weeks. Functional capacity assessed by maximum carrying test tolerance treadmill. Echocardiogram performed at end study. Energy metabolism antioxidant enzyme activities spectrophotometry muscle. Oxidative stress markers analyzed (lipid hydroperoxide) serum (malondialdehyde protein carbonylation). Protein expression insulin type-1 growth factor-like pathway, kinase B, rapamycin target complex Western-blot. Statistical analysis: ANOVA Bonferroni Dunn, Student's t Goodman tests; p<0.05. Results Mortality higher than Sham. Infarction size did not differ between groups. increased load without changing remodeling. Catalase activity lower glutathione peroxidase RE-MI. carbonylation RE-MI MI. groups, except phosphofructokinase Expression p70s6K, p-FoxO3a, p-FoxO3a-to-FoxO3a ratio lower, p-p70s6K-to-p70s6K Conclusion practice resistance is safe, attenuates mortality, improves regardless changes remodeling infarcted rats. In muscle, preserves proteins involved trophism. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: Public Institution(s). Main source(s): CNPq UNESP

The effect of resistance exercise on oxidative stress in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

Abstract Background and Objective: It has been shown that oxidative stress increases in diabetes and it has an important role in its development and subsequent complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acute resistance exercise on oxidative stress in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Expression of MHC-beta and MCT1 in cardiac muscle after exercise training in myocardial-infarcted rats.

To evaluate the hypothesis that increasing the potential for glycolytic metabolism would benefit the functioning of infarcted myocardium, we investigated whether mild exercise training would increase the activities of oxidative enzymes, expression of carbohydrate-related transport proteins (monocarboxylate transporter MCT1 and glucose transporter GLUT4), and myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms. M...
